The 30/30/30 Project Report

The Insights from Generation Z 30 years on from Democracy

Imagine having access to insights and thoughts from 30 South African Gen Zs from various backgrounds? Or getting a glimpse into the fears, hopes and dreams associated with their personal, professional and public lives – all on the 30th anniversary of our democracy?

Our 30/30/30 Project Report will give you just that and more!

This report is part of the 30/30/30 Project, a project created by Flux Trends and Student Village to introduce South Africa – and the world – to its future.

Spearheaded by Dion Chang, Founder of Flux Trends, and Ronen Aires, author of Breach and co-founder of Student Village, both leading experts on youth insights in South Africa, this report promises to look into the lives of these young disruptors to:

  • Understand who they are on a personal level,
  • Their career aspirations (or lack thereof) and relationship with the idea of jobs and work in a country rife with youth unemployment and,
  • Their sense of civic duty and activism in the run-up to the 2024 election

This report will help you to:

  • Know who these young people consider as their role models
  • How this generation makes their purchasing decisions
  • Explore the similarities and/or differences between our Gen Zs and their Western counterparts, highlighting opportunities in the gaps.
  • Gain insights on their financial behaviour and retirement aspirations
  • Understand this generation’s attitude towards work (9-5 job vs side hustle)
  • Ascertain the impact of their educational training on their career development and trajectory
  • Find out whether they still have faith in democracy or not
  • Get clarity on their position on related issues.
  • Get an idea of their attitudes towards, their future and the country’s future

These topics are just a fraction of what is explored in this report.

This report is a comprehensive and extensive exploration into the personal, professional and political lives of South African GenZs, to give us a full picture of who they are, what they are doing and where they are going.

Who is this report for?

  • Media, content creators, civil society, political leaders, corporate South Africa, entrepreneurs and elders in general
  • Anyone who wants to understand and work with rather than against their future
  • Anyone who wants to give young South Africans the impetus and agency to vote in the next elections

Want to empower the future of South Africa?
